Classes
Incorporating self-awareness (somatic wisdom), cardio-vascular exercise, Yoga, Pilates and dance create a deepened, life giving experience of somatic awareness and aerobic activity in these carefully designed programs. Sharing diverse joyous music and being part of a supportive group are key aspects of the uplifting experience of these programs. Deepening relaxation is a profound aspect of the somatic awareness programs. Sherry became certified in this low impact aerobic movement class(Moving On Aerobics) 6 years ago and has been teaching in Manhattan at the JCC, St. Lukes/Roosevelt Hospitals, Gilda's Club and The Center for Kinesthetic Education where she is a faculty member. This class is based on the work of Dr. Martha Eddy who has used her expertise as an exercise physiologist, dance educator and somatic movement therapist to create customized group movement programs tailored for particular needs -- from children with asthma, to women living with breast cancer, to older people seeking improved breath and balance. I continue to develop from my very gratifying studies with her. These specialized health programs fill the gap between recent advances in testing and treatment for many diseases, and the lack of programs to help you combat the physical and emotional toll that disease takes on your body. Movement for Life programs bring renewed vitality to people with the following challenges:

AND/OR receive personalized movement therapy sessions with Sherry Greenspan. Moving For Life(tm) for people living with breast cancer Combining low impact movement and movement therapy principles, Moving for Life provides a gentle, but invigorating low impact cardio workout, that relieves stress and invites energy and renewal. This low-impact aerobic dance program was designed especially for women who have or who have had breast cancer and has now been developed for many other uses and populations as listed above. No dance experience is necessary. Participants are recommended to wear comfortable clothing and bring a small towel to assist in upper body stretching. Movement for Life(tm) - Yoga This yoga class is a gentle and invigorating approach to the basic yoga principles of breath, movement, strengthening, stretching and balance. I fold my knowledge of yoga (Iyengar trained as well as Kripalu and Hatha), somatic principles and embodied anatomy to create a safe and individual tailored experience to increase knowledge, awareness, integration, enjoyment and health. Movement for Life(tm) - Pilates In this Pilates class we focus on integration, balance and strength to increase flexibility and ease in everyday life. Each class will have themes to educate and integrate for maximal ease while enjoying the Pilates system for full body, mind, spirit potential. Movement for Life(tm) - Meditation Guided meditation and visualization designed for deepening connection, integration and heightened healing, self regulating and relaxation.
